Today, we received our Betta Fish and we put it inside the Bio-bubble. We observed that most of our grasshoppers had died probably due to the lack of food. So we also transplanted some spider plants and some other unknown type of plant. Then we went out and caught a couple more grasshoppers, burying the dead ones so that nutrients will be released into the soil inside our ecosystem. We sprayed down the inside making sure everything was nice and damp. In a couple of days we will receive our salamander to put in the bio-bubble.

Sarah your blog entries are exquisite. Very informational, and well written with details. I have a couple of questions for you. In the blog it says you buried the grasshoppers that died. Why did you bury them? Can you explain your reasoning?? In a natural ecosystem there is no one or thing to come along to bury them. They decompose naturally, am I correct?

We buried the grasshopper that died to under a plant so that the plant could have more nutrients than what the soil could have gave the plant. Under natural circumstances things such as worms would help the decomposing process.
